My name is Jorge Reyna, I am a Peruvian of Inca ancestry. I left my family, friends and customs and emigrated to Australia to follow my dreams. I have been living in Australia for 11 years now.
In November 2007 I finished Digital Media Certificate IV at TAFE Randwick with distinctions. I
have a Certificate IV in Small Business Management as well. I do also hold a degree in Animal
Science and a Masters in Veterinary Science (Sydney University). My life has been between
science, digital media and e-learning.
Seven years ago I decided a career change in order to maximise my creative side. I have been working as educational technologist in tertiary education. Before, I was working as freelance in digital media running
my own business (Artminds Digital Media). My experience is wide, covering web design,
motion graphics, digital photography, audio/video capture and edition, multimedia and graphic
design. As a digital photographer, I have been working for the last 8 years and exhibit my work
at the Art Gallery of the University of Sydney and also at Frogmore House Art Gallery in
Werrington (UWS). I do consider a multi-task creative person doing painting, drawing, sculpture, furniture
design and poetry. I play in a band in Lima whenever time I visit my hometown.
I consider I did the right move as the present convergence of two key trends, the growing demand for rich media and the exploding availability of affordable bandwidth, is causing higher
education institutions to utilise digital media resources and Web 2.0 tools in blended learning to
enhance the learning experience. In this context, there is an exciting opportunity for e-learning
professionals to evaluate and implement new technologies.
I believe that e-learning interface design should be a core, integrated component of the overall design process. The interface design should be determined by how people learn and the tasks they need to perform. This should be driven by a pedagogical, not technological, approach which will identify learning outcomes.
Additionally, I had experience modeling for local companies and worked with fine art photographers, painters and sculptors in the USA and Australia. I have a solid background in marketing, sales and technical services. I enjoy dealing with academics/students and taking briefs from scratch to finish, achieving solutions that will have a positive impact on the way students
learn. Enjoy your visit!
