sperm analysis

In general terms, in other species sperm quality is assessed by macroscopic analysis (color, appearance, volume, viscosity) and microscopic analysis (concentration, motility, live/dead sperm, acrosome reaction and abnormalities). In the case of alpacas there are no established parameters to evaluate sperm quality. Our laboratory is compiling the latest research from Peru and also doing private research in order to standardize a test to assess sperm quality in alpacas. As a result we will be offering a reliable technique to assess fertility in males destined to be used as sires. This technique includes 3 sperm collections with a mannequin and subsequent laboratory assessments. After that we will be able to certify the sperm quality of your animals.
